The Ministry of Education and Science has denied reports by some media outlets that two school winter vacations have been set due to the pandemic.

"Information in the media about the establishment of the winter holidays in the 2020/2021 school year in the period from December 28, 2020 to January 10, 2021 and from February 15 to 21, 2021 is unreliable," the Ministry of Education said.

Children with special needs will be able to study longer

Parents of children with special educational needs will have the opportunity to increase the duration of their child's schooling.

Relevant changes establishing the mechanism for increasing the duration of training have been adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers.

According to the Ministry of Education, children with special educational needs will be able to extend their education for two years.

In addition, such children will be able to start primary education at another age, and the duration of their education in primary and basic school can be extended with the addition of the educational program of the correctional and developmental component.

"The need for extension of training will be determined by the team of psychological and pedagogical support no later than six months before the end of training and confirmed by the inclusive resource center, which will re-assess the child's development if necessary," the Ministry of Education said.

Based on the conclusion on the repeated psychological and pedagogical assessment of the child's development, the pedagogical council of the school will make decisions on extending the duration of education.
